From what age?
From 8: The Witch and The Chinese Box in Bogenhausen — level 2 and 3.5, search and puzzle tasks, spookiness only as atmosphere. From 12 accompanied, from 14 on their own: Seven Kingdoms, The Castle Cell, The Cave of Death — more logic, more thrill. From 16 Taphephobia, from 18 the Dungeon, no exceptions.
Our next room Dustyland is being built in the old town right now and is designed for families from 6.
Why kids are just as good in an escape room as adults
Kids simply try things. While adults are still wondering whether those two things belong together, an eight-year-old has long since tried it — and that's often exactly the step that moves things on. Searching, spotting patterns, matching colours and shapes: eight- to twelve-year-olds are usually faster than their parents here. With multi-step logic puzzles and texts the adults help out, but it's not the parents' job. Our family rooms have both, and the one who opens the door at the end is quite often the child.
The parents' role: hold back
The most common mistake: adults see the solution and say it out loud. Then the puzzle was theirs. Give it time, even if fine-motor tasks take longer. Small hints are enough: “Have a look at what's on the back.” If nothing works at all, the game master helps at the push of a button — in a way that lets the kids take the last step themselves.
Scared? Nobody gets locked in.
The door can be opened from the inside at any time, and unlike classic escape games, it's about a mission, not about escaping. The game master sees the room the whole time. Anyone who wants a breather steps out — and comes back in.
Does an adult have to be in the room?
- Up to age 11: an adult companion is in the room. They play along and count as a player.
- 12 to 15: allowed without an adult in the room, with a parental consent form. In rooms for ages 14 and up that only applies from 14 — 12- and 13-year-olds play there with an adult in the room.
- From 16: no companion needed. The Dungeon stays 18+, no exceptions.
How many places do we book for kids plus supervision?
The supervising adult is a place like any other — 6 kids plus supervision is 7 places, not 6. In return, groups of children and teens may bring one more player, as long as no more than one person is 16 or older:
- The Witch: 5 players normally, as a pure group of under-12s up to 6 kids + 1 adult = 7 places.
- The Chinese Box: 7 players normally, as a pure group of under-12s up to 8 kids + 1 adult = 9 places.
In the calendar you simply enter the age groups — it works out the places and the price. For birthdays and school classes one accompanying adult per room plays for free, and birthday kids play free from 4 people.
A slot for the family?
Two rooms from age 8, three from 14 — from 26 € per person.
